Our self-interested politicians repeat industry talking points ad infinitum, ad nauseum. Then, editors, you print those talking points, as if they are somehow truer when they emerge from the mouth of a politician dependent on industry money for his or her job than they are when they come directly from the industry.

Phone Senator Manchin to protest his threat to "beat the hell out of" people exercising first amendment rights. No matter what your views are on the limits of free speech, threatening to physically assault citizens rather than working to address concerns in an adult way is shameful.

Be polite, but be firm when speaking to his staff. Let his office know that he must retract and apologize, and that this sort of juvenile behavior from a Senator embarrasses West Virginia, and will affect your vote in 2018.
