Donald Trump, at a primary debate in August of 2015, explained: "I was a businessman. I give to everybody. When they call, I give. And you know what? When I need something from them two years later, three years later, I call them and they're there for me." Later, he said it more bluntly, "When I call, they kiss my ass, okay?"
Chris Hedges: "Hope is weak, unorganized and absurd. Hope, which is always nonviolent, exposes in its powerlessness, the lies, fraud and coercion employed by the state. Hope knows that an injustice visited on our neighbor is an injustice visited on all of us..."

Our self-interested politicians repeat industry talking points ad infinitum, ad nauseum. Then, editors, you print those talking points, as if they are somehow truer when they emerge from the mouth of a politician dependent on industry money for his or her job than they are when they come directly from the industry.
So keep this in mind: at heart this seems to be a political move on Huffman's part. It's one that benefits us at this time, luckily. But this hasn't changed his mind about Cancer Creek. You're likely to see these proposals again...
They're having a tea party and serving us cups of air, telling us we're not really thirsty. They seem to be more concerned with saying the right things than with doing the right things...
If liberals didn't like it when people claimed "Obama is not my president!"--but you're saying it about Trump, you're being a hypocrite. On the other hand, Trump supporters, if you said it about Obama and now you're infuriated that people are saying it about Trump, you're being a hypocrite, too. Let's all stop being hypocrites, please.
A populist uprising at the polls is exactly what happens when the government ceases to be "for the people." These results now remind everyone that if we don't have a government FOR the people, we'll have a government BY the people, at least---whether for good or ill.
