CTA: Demand Gov. Justice uphold the WV Constitution, VETO #CancerCreek, oppose #ForcedPooling

Call To Action: Demand Jim Justice uphold his oath to follow the WV constitution and protect our health and welfare!  This will take less than five minutes. You can do it before you start the car and leave work to go home! Scroll immediately down to the RED TEXT if you only have two minutes.

What to do:

Holler at Governor Jim Justice and demand he protect our rights, guaranteed by the WV Constitution, to a government that promotes our “happiness and safety.”

That means he MUST veto #CancerCreek, HB 2506, a bill designed to allow corporations to dump nearly 40 times the amount of pollutants in our water in order to line their pockets. No jobs will be created by this aggression against us. See details at the link.

Protecting our rights also means he must withdraw his support from #ForcedPooling, SB 576, which unconstitutionally attempts to legalize the theft of private property rights for corporate gain. There is no free market price if you’re forced to accept. And this one is a job-killer, too. There’s little need for landmen to negotiate a contract with you when they can simply force you to accept their lowball offer. See details at the link.

Why do it:

The WV Constitution states that we’re all “by nature, equally free and independent, and have certain inherent rights, of which, when they enter into a state of society, they cannot, by any compact, deprive or divest their posterity, namely:  The enjoyment of life and liberty, with the means of acquiring and possessing property, and of pursuing and obtaining happiness and safety.”

Further, our WV Constitution states that government is best when it “is capable of producing the greatest degree of happiness and safety, and is most effectually secured against the danger of maladministration.”

These bills are designed to funnel money from working and middle class citizens to the already wealthy, in a variety of ways, including destroying property values and simply seizing our property directly.

HOLLER NOW:

Demand Governor Justice uphold the WV Constitution, and protect the health and welfare of West Virginians.

“Do your duty. VETO #CancerCreek HB 2506 and oppose #ForcedPooling SB 576! You’re here to protect citizens—not corporations! “

Be civil, but don’t be afraid to give him a piece of your mind, either. You can bet he’d care if the fish in his own fishing hole were killed. You can bet he wouldn’t like it if you told him he had to accept your 250 bucks, no matter what losses he was forced to suffer so you could put a frack pad outside the Greenbrier!

Tell him you understand that when our government acts contrary to protecting our safety and the common good, the WV Constitution lays on us as citizens this solemn duty: ‘an indubitable, inalienable, and indefeasible right to reform, alter or abolish it in such manner as shall be judged most conducive to the public weal.'”

Have two more minutes?

Try to prevent the Forced Pooling bill from leaving the House of Delegates. If we do that, it will never hit Justice’s desk, and he won’t be able to betray his oath, and his duty to us, by signing such a horrible bill.

Take two minutes to email members of the House Energy Committee and tell them: “In your capacity as members of the Energy committee, I’m demanding that you uphold your oath of office and the WV Constitution to protect our welfare and the US Constitution to protect our property rights.”
